Carbon footprint measurement and analysis
A full life cycle carbon emission assessment of all battery products and some electric drive and cell products was conducted using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method based on industrial production processes, and the carbon footprint reduction target (cradle to gate) of the year 2025 for the power battery assembly was set.
Low Carbon Products and Design
Design and develop green, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and technically advanced high-performance batteries to promote low-emission vehicles. Develop leading electric drive products to reduce vehicle emissions, expand into more low-carbon scenarios, and comprehensively strengthen the competitiveness of clean energy products.
Low Carbon Materials and Procurement
With 154 suppliers and 100% of key components sourced from top suppliers, VREMT is planning to implement performance and share-based incentives to promote the use of green energy and carbon neutrality among suppliers.
In terms of green power usage in aluminum production, VREMT requires:
In the production of aluminum ingots (i.e., pure aluminum produced in the aluminum electrolysis process), use 100% green electricity
The carbon footprint (cradle-to-gate) for aluminum ingots is no more than 4kg CO2e/kg
By 2025, production of all new projects will use 100% green electricity and provide a carbon compliance report for 2025 by the end of 2024.
Low carbon storage and logistics
Actively exploring low-carbon warehousing, VREMT proposes low-carbon warehousing solutions based on three perspectives, namely building design, equipment selection and operation management, aiming to significantly improve the efficiency of energy use and reduce energy consumption and emissions of transportation, packaging and other processes by optimizing logistics operation.
The current packaging materials are nearly100% recycled materials
Low Carbon Recycling
VREMT actively promotes material recycling, cooperates with qualified third-party recycling suppliers, categorizes products, and reuses recyclable materials to achieve an all-win situation in terms of economic benefits, environment protection and social values.
At present, VREMT requires suppliers to use recycled materials in aluminum and steel parts for its battery products, and the percentage of recycled materials in the parts is around 15%-20%
Recycling suppliers are required to achieve a nickel-cobalt-manganese recycling rate of
